Speak

The book Speak is a very good teenage book. I read it last year. It talks about a lot of teenage problems. Some examples are things like cliques and clans, changing your image, and almost everything freshmen go through coming into high school. This book zones in on the life of an “outsider”. In other words a person with no friends, doesn’t get the best the grades, gets into trouble, and is very alone. The character who plays this role is Melinda. Melinda has a very dark secret. The guilt eats her alive. She is alone in an mental mind state.
I would recommend this book to the age group between13 and 15. I would say this because these are the kids who are just getting put of middle school and starting high school. Also the main character is about the same age. It deals with some of the feelings you get before you enter high school. It is a good book for this age group because they deal with these problems and go through some of the same things.
To sum up this critique, I would say this good book for the middle teenage years and it would be a good experience for them to read it.
